The game last Thursday night pitted two teams fighting for one of the top seeds in the District 11A tournament just over a week away and the game would come down to a wide open Hannah Helton 3-pointer with just one second left on the clock to give Richland the 42-39 win and deny Cornersville it's chance for the number two seed in the district tournament.. ...

A time tested adage often heard in football circles is that if you don't hear your name come up too much as an offensive lineman then you're doing a good job.
That proved to be true during the 2015-2016 football season that saw Marshall County boast a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Back of the Year finalist, two All-State wide receivers and two 1,000-yard rushers that culminated in rarely mentioned offensive lineman Steven Clemmons signing a Letter of Intent with Murray State on Thursday over offers from Austin Peay and East Tennessee State.

An initial District 12-AA win there for the taking, but it slipped away at the very end, continuing a frustrating season for the Marshall County Tigerettes, who led for much of the game before losing 51-49 at Spring Hill Friday night.
"It was the first time we had a lead going into halftime and the first time we had a lead going into the fourth quarter," MCHS coach Vincent Yarbrough said. "We just to learn how to be more mature and learn to nurse a lead and let the defense work for a few minutes and then execute."
The Tigerettes had three players in double figures in the contest with Cassi Whitworth leading the way with 12 points, while Leah Hollingsworth and Tianda Hutton added 11 points apiece.

The Lady Warriors (6-12, 3-8) looked like a shell of the team that has only won six games the entire season by pushing the favored Bulldogs (11-11, 9-3) to the brink of defeat before the home team finally squeaked out a victory 51-44 to stay in the hunt for the second place seed in District 11-A.
