Two long standing rivals took to the court Monday night at Culleoka as Cornersville and Richland fought to the bitter end to avoid traveling to Linden Friday night to face 12-A power Perry County in the first round of the Region 6-A Tournament.
The Bulldogs (13-15) ended a disappointing district tournament appearance by losing to the Raiders (13-11) in the same fashion it had fallen to underdog Hampshire last Thursday-- starting out slow, clawing its way back to take the lead in the fourth quarter before going cold from the field and subsequently losing 44-37.

The MCHS Tigers returned to Spring Hill on Saturday for a marquee match-up featuring number-one seed Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) against seconded-seeded Marshall County for the District 12-AA Tournament Championship for the second consecutive season with the Lions taking the title 62-51 last year.
Marshall County played the Lions tooth and nail during the regular season, losing by just eight points on January 5 and a mere seven points just a week prior on February 12, but the Tigers came out flat and struggled to score on the Lions after the end of the first quarter on the way to a 55-26 loss Saturday.

The regular season finale was an encouraging performance by the Forrest Rockets, who took Perry County (13-10) to the limit before falling late 48-47 Thursday night at Chapel Hill.
"We just gave them too many second chances, if we could have limited them by three of those we would have been ok, a few less turnovers we would be ok, if we could have taken a few smarter shots, we would be ok," Forrest coach Randy Toombs said. "It was a nice outing. It was encouraging, but it is so encouraging that you just want to win."
