The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers looked to keep its early season hot streak going on Tuesday night against E.A. Cox Middle School after picking up wins number four and five on Friday and Monday. Behind the great pitching of Matthew McCormick and some timely hitting at the top of the lineup the Tigers were able to keep the complete turnaround from last season going by keeping its 2016 record unblemished at 6-0. more

Lady Rockets blast Cornersville in three innings By Anthony S. The Marshall County Tigers stared elimination right in the face against Cascade in the Region 6-AA Tournament semi-finals, but came back from 14 points down in the last four minutes of the fourth quarter to send the Champions home. MCHS got one more chance at the proverbial thorn in its side- the CPA Lions for the fourth time this season in the region championship Thursday night at Spring Hill where the Nashville private school won 69-49. more
Tigers 'believe' and go to state Marshall County coach Arnett Bodenhamer has drilled one word---believe--- in to the heads of his players entering a post-season where the Tigers have endured several close calls, but have remained in the hunt with some heavy late game drama. Not a single person outside of the Marshall County (16-14) faithful believed the Tigers had much of chance against heavily favored Maplewood (23-6) on Monday night in the Class AA Sectionals at Nashville, but with four seconds left, Curtis Keiler took an inbound pass and went up and over a Maplewood defender to score the game winning layup as the Tigers shocked the Mid-State with a 56-54 upset win over the sixth-ranked Panthers. more

The LMS Tigers traveled to a frigid Chapel Hill Wednesday night where Preston Shelton made the Rockets even colder, tossing five innings of no-hit baseball to lead the Lewisburg boys to an 11-5 win. Caleb McElhaney came on for Shelton in the sixth and even though he probably could not even hold onto the ice ball by issuing seven bases on balls and five runs, the Rockets still did not manage a hit. more
Tigers knock off Cascade, look to rematch with CPA Marshall County traveled back to Spring Hill on Tuesday night to take on Cascade in the Region 6-AA semi-finals, playing the Champions for the third and final time during this season with the winner taking on CPA in the title game and the loser heading to the house until the next season. For the second straight game, the Tigers waited until the final minutes to come alive and seize victory from the jaws of defeat by winning 65-62 after trailing by as many as 14 points for the majority of the fourth quarter. more
Spring time weather blossomed just in time Saturday for the opening of the prep softball pre-season with the annual trip to the Hillard Gardner Sports Complex in Shelbyville for the Golden Eaglettes Play Day featuring all three Marshall County schools preparing for the upcoming season opener on March 14. more
In six previous meetings dating back to 2006, Forrest prevailed every time versus McEwen, but on Friday in Humphries County, the seventh time was the charm as the Lady Warriors broke the jinx with a 60-46 win over the Lady Rockets in the opening round of the Region 5-A Tournament, ending Chapel Hill's season. "I feel as we reflect back on the season, I hope that the girls will realize that it was a good season," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said. "It ended a couple games short of what we hoped, but there wasn't a night that they didn't fight till the end and try to do what we needed to do to win and for that I am thankful to them." more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (13-16) continued its postseason woes on Friday in Linden against red hot Perry County, losing 84-37 to the Vikings and wrapping up the 2015-16 season. "They are just a great team, there really isn't much more to say," senior Bulldog Carson Coble said. "They started out hot and we had an off night." more

Marshall County (14-13) found itself in the exact same position as the previous season on Friday night by falling to CPA in the district championship and welcoming Camden (18-9) to Lewisburg in the first round of the Region 6-AA Tournament. The barrage of fans that packed the bleachers in Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium got every last cent of their money's worth as the Tigers won a nail biter, beating Camden 53-51 in dramatic fashion and will advance to the semifinals for the second consecutive season. more
The Marshall County Tigers continued their post-season magic Tuesday night at Spring Hill in the Region 6-AA semifinals, erasing a fourth quarter double-digit deficit to stun Cascade 65-62. Marshall County trailed 52-38 entering the fourth quarter when they turned up the defensive pressure cooker on the Champions, forcing a myriad turnovers and layups off the press. more

Thirteen years of hard work finally came to fruition last week when former MCHS soccer player Abbey Redferrin signed with Freed-Hardeman University over offers from Bethel University, Cumberland University, and Campbellsville (KY) University. "I've been wanting to go to Freed (Hardeman) for a long time," Redferrin, who finished her MCHS career with 41 goals and 51 assists, said. "It's a small private school which is what I want, it's not too far away from home, I can play on the soccer team and maybe get some good playing time. I'm Church of Christ and it's a Church of Christ school so everything added up and I got some scholarship money, and I'm ready for the new experience." more
PGA Professional Greg Wilson and his wife Susie left their course (Cedar Creek Golf Course) to son Adam and grandchildren in Ottumwa, Iowa for a new challenge and it is a big one, leasing Saddle Creek Golf Club and reopening the course that has been closed for several months. "My son (Ben) came down here to become a music producer in Nashville and we came down to visit him eight years ago, loved the climate and the people were awesome, just friendly people," Wilson said. "I don't like the Iowa winters, so I told my wife, if we ever get a chance to find a facility in Tennessee, we've got to get out of here." more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs were in prime position for a spot in the 11-A District Tournament finals heading into Thursday night's semifinal matchup with three-win Hampshire after the Hawks knocked off number-two Santa Fe in a stunning upset during the opening round of the tournament. The Hawks carried its newfound confidence into the game against the Lady Bulldogs and Cornersville fell victim to the annual tournament upset bug by losing to Hampshire 59-51 in a game the number-three seeded Bulldogs played catch-up through its entirety. more
