Since the Cornersville-Marshall County series was revived back in the 2013 every game has been a battle for county supremacy for top dog in the talent rich southern Middle Tennessee county with Marshall County (17-5, 5-2) taking two close games in 2015, Cornersville (7-6, 3-3) winning both contests in 2014, and the Tigers winning the series 2-0 in 2013. more
The defending Class A state champion Forrest Lady Rockets wore specially made uniforms with a cancer ribbon to honor former teammate Briar Mays on Sunday at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill and in typical Forrest fashion, shutout Eagleville 6-0. "We are happy to be able to honor her for what she did for Forrest softball and we are praying for her every day that she is winning her battle and I think she is," said Forrest coach Becky Cheatham. "I just can't say enough good things about her." more
It was a rainy day Thursday and it looked like the Forrest Rockets were a little gloomy too as they captured a 6-3 win over Harpeth at Chapel Hill in a game where they did not play their best, but still did enough to beat the Indians. "Yeah we didn't play our best Thursday night, but it's always great to get a win," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. "The boys did what they had to do for the win." more

The Marshall County Tigers missed a chance on Monday to stay in the heat of the District 12-AA race with a heart breaking 3-2 loss at Page, who was coming off a disappointing loss to last place Giles County three games prior. Marshall County would have one more shot to stay in the top three spots in the district standings in a rematch against the Patriots on Tuesday at Joe George Field in Lewisburg, but an unfortunate accident knocked the wind out of the Tigers sails in the fifth inning and Page prevailed 7-4. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets (15-4, 7-1), unhappy with their 1-0 loss to Moore County Tuesday night, traveled to Eagleville on Wednesday where the Lady Eagles suffered the wrath of the defeat, losing 11-1 in five innings. "I think they realized they have got to hit the ball and be on the attack instead of being the 'attackee', if that is a word," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "I told them before the game, we are in a position now where we have to lay all out on the line, there is nothing to lose, so turn it loose and play." more

Them meaning the Moore County Raiderettes, who beat Forrest 1-0 Tuesday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, breaking the Lady Rockets' streak of not losing to a Class A team since the 2014 state tournament when they fell to Columbia Academy in a season ending defeat. "It was a tough loss, we beat ourselves, there is no other way to describe it," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "They came here to take care of business, we had the target on our back and did not get the job done." more
Come the fall of 2016 Marshall County will send off another great athlete on to the college ranks when Cornersville's Carson Coble will venture one county over to join the highly esteemed Martin Methodist softball team at the small Pulaski college. Coble, who shined on both the hardwood and the diamond, has been instrumental in leading the Lady Dawgs to within striking distance of a number two seed in the upcoming district tournament and has been on the field for over 50 Cornersville wins during her five-year playing career. more

Marshall County came into Thursday's game against District powerhouse Page winless in the 2016 season, but with renewed confidence after Tuesdays tie with Spring Hill, a game where a late mistake gave the Raiders an opportunity to score for the late tie. The Tigers (0-6-1) gave the visiting Patriots (5-4-2) all it could handle by taking the early lead 20 minutes into the contest before a late flurry of goals by Page resulted in a 5-1 loss in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate. more
Forrest pushes win streak to 7 games by 'being focused' in District 9A clash The Forrest Rockets welcomed longtime rival Moore County to Chapel Hill on Monday night, looking to continue a six game winning streak where they have outscored their opponents a daunting 55-8. The Rockets stayed atop the District 9A standings with the win over the Raiders, still sporting an undefeated record in league play. more
Forrest completed its third sweep of the regular season series in four years over Eagleville, taking an 11-1 six-inning, run-rule win Wednesday night at Chapel Hill. After bashing 18 hits in their 14-4 win at Eagleville Tuesday night, the Rockets pounded out 13 more hits off four Eagle hurlers in the contest. more
Community came to the Field of Dreams at Chapel Hill Wednesday night with a lifetime of goose eggs versus the Forrest Lady Rockets and after putting up a mild tussle, the Viqueens fell 7-3, extending their all-time losing streak to 0-36, dating back to 2002. Forrest banged out 13 hits and had six extra base knocks in the game with Samantha King going 3-for-4, while Carson Warner, Lauren Gillespie and Jordan Yelensky all had two hits apiece for Forrest with Yelensky slamming a two-run homerun. more

On Friday night at Chapel Hill, an inspired 3A Independence Lady Eagles' squad fought back for 4-3 win to break Forrest's 24-game winning streak, dating back to April 18, 2015 when they lost to Hendersonville 7-0 in the Lincoln County Border Battle. "All losses are bad, but it's not that bad unless you let it define you," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. "We are going to take this loss, learn from it, improve from the result of it and get better." more
The MCHS (14-4, 3-1) Tigerettes came into last Thursdays game against Cascade (11-4, 3-0) on a high note after winning the Zaxby's Classic in Clarksville by taking 5-of-6 six games in just two days, culminating with a title game win over 3A Clarksville Northwest. MCHS marched into Pulaski three days later to rock district rival Giles County 15-1 to stand atop the District 12-AA standings, tied with one other opponent---Cascade. The game versus the Lady Champions was a pitching duel from the outset with MCHS ace Brooklin Conger squaring off against Cascade hurler Brooke Sudduth pitch for pitch. more
