The Forrest Rockets' return to the state tournament was another quick affair as they lost the first two games, ending the season with a 26-8 record. "I hate it, but I'm proud of the boys and happy for these seniors for what they have accomplished the last four years," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. orrest's Alex Brewer, a finalist for the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association (TBCA) Class A Mr. Baseball award last season won the honor for 2016 in a ceremony Tuesday morning at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. The second player from the record breaking 2015 girls soccer team signed on to continue her career in college when Yesenia Eguia committed to Martin Methodist on Wednesday. The senior defender was instrumental in leading the Tigerettes to a school best 10-game winning streak to start the season and 13 regular season wins before falling to Spring Hill in the district tournament. more
Tamera Duncan, a transfer to Marshall County High School from Forrest prior to her senior year became the latest Marshall County student athlete to sign a college scholarship on Wednesday, albeit one from a sport that doesn't get too much publicity- cheerleading. "I just kind of applied and put on my application that I cheered," Duncan said. "I saw that (Martin Methodist) was on the Tennessee Promise list and I wanted to go to a four-year college with a good criminal justice program. So when I got the call I kind of went 'yay!' because I didn't think that I would cheer after high school." more
The Forrest Lady Rockets thrive on adversity. "We always work on mental toughness and we may be down, but I never feel like we are out," Forrest coach Becky Cheatham said. Every time they have lost the region title game and went on the road for a sectional contest with a state tournament berth on the line they have won. more
There wasn't much offense, but there was plenty of excitement Friday night at Chapel Hill as the Rockets eked out a 2-0 win over upstart Grace Christian Academy (Franklin) in a Class A sectional contest that earned Forrest a state tournament berth for the second time in three years and the third in school history. "I'm very proud of the boys, they fought hard throughout that entire game," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. "We knew one, two or three runs would get the job done and they just kept fighting hard." more

Over the past decade the name Forrest (27-9) has been synonymous with success in 1A softball, making the trip to the state tournament nine out of the past ten seasons winning all nine sectional games it has played in since 2006. Having advanced to the regional final in nine of the past ten years, FHS have lost just three times in the finals with two of those losses coming against a constant rival-- the East Robertson (24-14) Lady Indians from Cross Plains. more
Forrest made the long trek north Wednesday night, traveling to Clarksville Academy where they came away with an 8-3 win over the Cougars in the Region 5-A title game, earning the Rockets a home game tonight versus Grace Christian School-Franklin in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's state sectional round where the winner goes to the Spring Fling next week. more
Cornersville defied the odds by knocking off Mt. Pleasant to gain a trip to the Region 6-A Tournament for the first time since the 2011, but a loss in the district championship to Columbia Academy gave the Lady Dawgs the daunting task of traveling to Lawrence County to take on perennial power Summertown for a chance to appear in the sectionals. more
With its season on the line for the third game in a row, the Marshall County Tigerettes made the 33 mile drive to Wartrace on Thursday to take on the Lady Champions of Cascade with the winner taking on Page for the District 12-AA crown. Two outstanding freshman pitchers in Brooklin Conger (Marshall County) and Brooke Sudduth (Cascade) would go head-to-head with Conger and the Tigerettes coming up just one run short as they headed home to Lewisburg one game short of a region tournament berth with the 3-2 loss. more
The defending Class-A state champion Forrest Lady Rockets took care of business in a solid manner Monday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill, beating Nashville Christian School 7-1 in the opening round of the Region 5-A Tournament. The Forrest Rockets are a determined squad and they showed their resiliency once again on a rainy Monday night at Chapel Hill, blasting District 10-A runner-up East Robertson 11-1 in five innings for an opening round Region 5-A Tournament win. "It's a great feeling, you have to give all the credit to the boys, they came out tonight focused," Forrest coach Bart Joyce said. "They got down, came back, held their composure and capitalized on big hits at crucial times with two outs, so it was a great job at the plate with two-out hitting." more
After cruising undefeated thru regular season district play, the Forrest Rockets received a wake-up call via a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Eagleville on Wednesday in the first of two championship tilts. Rain forced the postponement of the final clash from Thursday to Friday night and Eagleville picked up right where they left off, jumping to a 2-0 lead before Forrest answered the call, pounding out 15 hits off three Eagleville hurlers en route to a huge 10-4 win, marking back-to-back District 9-A Tournament titles for the Rockets. more
