Marshall County Babe Ruth 15-year old all-stars' manager Steve Hobbs must have felt like he was asleep in a nightmare he could not awake from Friday night in Pulaski when his squad squandered two leads in an excruciating 10-9 extra inning loss to Lawrenceburg in a District 8 winner's bracket contest.
Marshall County (MC) jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings before Lawrenceburg came back with six runs in the top of the fourth as they sent eleven batters to the plate and banged out seven hits.

Staff ace Matt Callender went to the hill in the historic Sam Davis Park in Pulaski Thursday night and continued his unbeaten season, tossing a one-hitter and striking out eleven batters in four innings of work as the 15-year old Marshall County Babe Ruth all-stars blasted the host squad 14-1 in five innings.

It has been a trying season for manager Dan Sweeney and his Farm Center team from Chapel Hill, but on Thursday all the hard work paid off at one time as the bats came alive, the gloves became sticky, and the young pitching staff held firm in an 11-4 run-rule win over A-Plus Collision Center.
Landon Jones, Blake Leonard, and Tanner Garvin scored five runs and drove in six out the 2, 3 and 4 spots in the batting order with Garvin leading the way via a 3-4 performance at the plate.

The Farm Center boys from Chapel Hill, coming off a big win Thursday night, were looking for an upset over Marshall Medical Center in Friday night's opener as they led 4-1 in the second inning before MMC stormed back to take a 12-5 win.
Ethan Poteete, who would be the recipient of the 13-year old MVP award later in the evening, did it all for the hospital guys as he earned a complete game win on the mound and at the plate, Poteete went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

In a peculiar turn of events, Marshall Medical Center's Zach Gordon was credited with a no-hitter Thursday night in an 8-5 win over Nichirin at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Babe Ruth Field in Lewisburg.
All five of Nichirin's runs off Gordon were unearned and all came in the bottom of the third inning on two MMC errors, one hit batsman, two bases on balls, a wild pitch and a passed ball.

The Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1990 squad capped off a perfect season Friday night in the 2011 Babe Ruth finale as Matt Callendar and Jacob Graves tossed a combined no-hitter in a 9-1 five inning, run-rule win over Nichirin.
Callendar, who would claim the leagues' pitching award later on in the evening hurled 3 2/3 innings of no-hit ball before 15-year old league MVP Jacob Graves came on in the fourth inning to finish the no-no.

In Marshall County Babe Ruth action Thursday night, Nichirin opened up the doubleheader, bouncing back from a 12-5 loss to Marshall Medical Center on Tuesday with a 10-0, four-inning, run-rule win over the Farm Center of Chapel Hill.
The hose makers had six hits in the ballgame, but drew nine bases on balls, and were the recipients of six untimely errors committed by the Farm Center squad.

Elks starting pitcher Jacob Graves surrendered a leadoff single to Grayson Wiles and then proceeded to shut down A-Plus Collision Center the rest of his stint on the mound as the undefeated orange clad squad went on to win 10-0 in four innings in Thursday night's nightcap at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field in Lewisburg.
The offensive hero once again for the Elks was Bubba Houghton, who bashed a three-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning, supplying all the runs his team would need on the evening.

The Babe Ruth Senior Girls League is ending this week, and on Monday night H&S Pharmacy, better known as the Marshall County Spookettes swept a doubleheader by identical 8-3 scores over Okay Tire and H&H Communications to solidify their stranglehold on first place.
In the afternoon contest, the Spookettes took an early 2-0 first inning lead on an error and an RBI single by Devan Hasty, but Okay came back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning, beginning with back-to-back walks to Ali Bennett and Sydney Strasser.

An injury filled season derailed the 14U Team Force '96' softball team for most of the 2010 travel ball season, but head coach Mike 'Gumby' Wortham's squad has been working hard during the off season and their effort paid off over the weekend when they captured the 7th Annual USGF Let'em Fly in Fayetteville title. Team Force won their first two pool games before being beaten by the Outrage from Lawrenceburg in the first round of bracket play. The Force came back to beat the Franklin County Blast in the loser's bracket final and then swept two from Outrage to win the title. In 18U action, the Tigerettes from Lewisburg finished second and Team Force from Marshall County took third place in the 10U Division.
