Hollingsworth Field to run their record to 3-0 on the season. Having scored double digit runs in each of their previous two outings, CHFC continued their early season offensive surge and finished with 10 hits and six walks against IMI starting hurler Brayden Gentry, who pitched four and two-thirds innings. more
A-Plus Collision Center picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night by beating Marshall Medical Center 11-2 in five innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. The game began on Tuesday evening, but was halted in the top of the fifth inning due to heavy rains with A-Plus Collision Center leading 9-1. After play resumed on Wednesday, A-Plus Collision (1-2) tacked on two more runs to open up an 11-1 advantage before coasting to the easy victory. more

Coming off a hard fought 3-2 extra inning victory over Marshall Medical Center the previous night, Nichirin carried that momentum into Wednesday's contest and jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first four innings of play. more
The Elks suffered their first loss in almost two years on Thursday night, as Chapel Hill Farm Center defeated the 12-time defending champs 10-3 in five innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Park to move into a tie for first place with Nichirin in the Babe Ruth league standings. CHFC (2-0) took control of the game early and held a 6-0 lead through the first three innings of play before tacking on four more runs over the next two frames to cruise to the mercy rule shortened victory. more
Chapel Hill Farm Center began their 2012 Babe Ruth season with a bang, as they thumped a young Irving Materials Incorporated squad 13-0 in four innings on Wednesday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. CHFC scored at least four runs in each of the first three innings of play and finished with 13 hits overall against two IMI pitchers. Catcher Boone Sweeney spearheaded Chapel Hill Farm Center's offensive attack by going 3-for-3 with two doubles, 2 RBI, and three runs scored. Blake Leonard (3 RBI), Bryce Oliver (1 RBI), and Jesse Pruitt (1 RBI) each tallied two hits for CHFC as well, while Landon Jones, Tanner Garvin (1 RBI), Jake Simpson (2 RBI), and Peyton Sisk all had one hit. more
After their season opener against Nichirin was postponed the previous night due to rain, Marshall Medical Center completed their first official game of the 2012 Babe Ruth campaign when they drubbed league newcomer Irving Materials Incorporated 16-0 in four innings on Tuesday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field. Bolstered by an eight-run first inning, Marshall Medical Center pounded out 15 hits against two IMI pitchers to go along with four walks and five Irving Materials errors. more
With rain postponing the first two games of the season on Monday, the Marshall County Babe Ruth League kicked off its 2012 campaign on Tuesday, as 12-time defending champ Lewisburg Elks Lodge defeated A-Plus Collision Center 10-4 in six innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field in the opening game of the night. Although they mustered only five hits in the contest, the Elks displayed patience at the plate and drew 11 walks against three APCC pitchers. A-Plus Collision also aided the Elks cause by committing four errors. more

LEWISBURG, Tenn. -- More than 350 Marshall County student athletes participated in clinics offering free sports physicals at Marshall Medical Center (MMC) in recent weeks. The clinics, offered on April 25 for high school athletes and on May 3 for middle school students, were coordinated by the Physical Therapy Department at MMC. Physicians on the MMC medical staff were joined by physical therapists, athletic trainers and nurses to conduct the free screenings for student athletes. According to MMC Physical Therapy Director Jamie Davis, 244 high school students and 122 middle school students were screened during the clinics. more
After nearly a three-year absence, the Saddle Creek Men's Golf Association (MGA) was recently reformed and returned with a bang on Sunday as 37 two-man teams teed it up for a two-man scramble on the Par 72, 6,283 yard course. After some great playing, the team of Ryan Johnson and Jeff Whitmore took home first place in the Championship Flight, shooting an excellent 12 under par 60, three strokes clear of second place. Joe Ligget and Steven Pennington were second and John Myhr and Ray Garbiras came in third. more

The Division I Chapel Hill Rockets (8-9 years old) dominated the Duck River Valley Youth Football League in 2011, compiling an undefeated 10-0 record, including a 13-7 win over Middle Tennessee Christian School in the title game. The Rockets, coached by John Dippold outscored their opponents 259-6 in the regular season and were not scored upon until Week 8 when the Cornersville Bulldogs scored six points in a 33-6 win for Chapel Hill. more
This year, the Discovery Gymnastics Team from Columbia has competed in four USAG meets for Levels 3, 4, 5 & 6 in the state of Tennessee including; You're the One and Fall Festival in Gallatin, Intrigue Invite at Opryland Hotel and even traveled as far as Sevierville for the Freedom Fest meet held at the Wilderness of the Smokies Waterpark. The Compulsory teams have two meets left - one in Huntsville, Alabama and their State Meet at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. more
Retired Lewisburg dentist Woodson Carter, left and Belfast resident Robert Richmond are all smiles as they proudly display the pair of mule deer they harvested recently on Sheephorn Ranch in Kremmling, Colorado. The deer scored 190 and 185 respectively in the Boone and Crockett point rating system. more
The compulsory gymnastic teams at Discovery Gymnastics are gearing up for the start of their 2011 season. The Columbia based school's compulsory teams are required to perform a routine composed for their level by USGA (United States Gymnastics Association) on floor, bars, beam and vault. more
As the local golf season begins to wind down, a couple of hundred local golfers teed it up to benefit the Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1990 on the Ewell Butler Golf Course at the Lewisburg Recreation Center on Sunday in one of the most anticipated golf tournaments of the year. There was over seventy-two players entered in each of the dual shotgun starts with the first wave smacking their first tee shots at 8:00 a.m., followed by another wave of duffers that went off for the 1:00 p.m. four man scramble. more
On Saturday at Henry Horton State Park, the Forrest Alumni Association kicked off their daylong reunion event schedule with a four-man scramble at the beautiful Buford Ellington Golf Course. The Alumni Association holds the annual event to promote fellowship and camaraderie amongst the community with the alums and to raise money for the organization's scholarship fund. more
