The Marshall County Dusters (13-3-1) had their eight-game winning streak snapped on Thursday afternoon when they lost 7-2 to the Ensworth Tigers at Columbia Central High School in their opening pool game of the Columbia/Forrest Classic.
Marshall County had shut out its previous two opponents, but their pitching staff was unable to hold down Ensworth's offensive attack, as the Tigers finished with 10 hits and three walks against Duster starting hurler Matt Sharp and reliever Ryan McDaniel.

After falling 7-2 to Ensworth the previous day, the Marshall County Dusters fell to 0-2 in pool play of the Columbia/Forrest Classic when they lost 6-5 to the Columbia Cubs on Friday afternoon.
The Dusters (13-4-1) held a 5-3 lead through the first four innings of play, but the Cubs tallied a run in each of the next two innings to knot the game at 5-5 before pulling out the victory in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out RBI single by William Pilkinton.

Coming off a 6-5 loss to tournament host Columbia earlier in the day, the Marshall County Dusters (14-4-1) picked up their first win in pool play of the Columbia/Forrest Classic by defeating the Summit Spartans 5-4 on Friday afternoon.
Summit held a tenuous 4-3 lead through the first four innings of play, but the Dusters crossed home plate twice in the top of the sixth to seize a one-run lead before holding the Spartans scoreless over the final two frames.

Having posted a 1-2 record in pool play, the Marshall County Dusters (15-4-1) advanced to the finals of their bracket in the single elimination portion of the Columbia/Forrest Classic by defeating the Cannon County Lions 7-5 on Saturday morning in Chapel Hill.
Cannon County held a 5-2 lead through the first three innings of play, but Marshall County eventually righted the ship and outscored the Lions 5-0 over the next four frames to escape with the two-run victory.

After posting a 2-1 record in pool play, the Forrest Rockets advanced to the finals of their bracket in the single elimination portion of the Columbia/Forrest Classic by beating the Summit Spartans 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill.
The two teams had battled to a 1-1 tie through the first four innings of play before the Rockets plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single by Boone Sweeney and a Logan Hollingsworth RBI fielder's choice to pull out the victory.

The Marshall County Dusters (16-4-1) won their bracket in the single elimination portion of the Columbia/Forrest Classic by defeating the Forrest Rockets 7-0 in five innings on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill behind a no-hitter from starting pitcher Ryan McDaniel.
Although he faced the minimum number of Forrest batters and did not issue a walk, McDaniel was not credited with a perfect game due to a Duster error in the bottom of the third inning while notching three strikeouts in the contest.

A-Plus Collision Center (6-5) moved within one game of second place Chapel Hill Farm Center (7-4) when they beat CHFC 6-2 on Monday night at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Field.
Having defeated Chapel Hill Farm Center 8-7 in their last encounter four days earlier, A-Plus Collision Center held a tenuous 2-1 lead through the first four innings of Monday's contest before outscoring CHFC 4-1 over the final three frames to pull away for the four-run victory.

The Elks 12-year title run officially came to an end on Monday night, as Nichirin (9-2) defeated Marshall Medical Center 12-5 in five innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth to capture the 2012 Marshall County Babe Ruth League championship.
After defeating Nichirin 8-3 in their previous meeting, Marshall Medical Center looked poised to pull off another upset early on and jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

After watching the Farm Center of Chapel Hill suffer a devastating upset loss to A-Plus in game one Thursday night at the Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Babe Ruth Field in Lewisburg, Nichirin said no way in game two, pounding IMI 21-0 in just three innings.
Jay Howard led the offensive blitzkrieg for Nichirin, going 3-4 with five RBI's, highlighted by an inside-the-park homerun in the huge 13-run third inning.
Howard also smashed two doubles in the contest, stole a base and scored three times.

The Farm Center of Chapel Hill was cruising along, leading 6-0 Thursday night before A-Plus Collision put a serious dent in their Marshall County Babe Ruth league title hopes with an 8-7 come from behind win.
With the loss, Chapel Hill (7-3) dropped one game behind first-place Nichirin (8-2), but in reality two games back, because Nichirin has defeated the Farm Center in both of their meetings this season.

Marshall Medical Center's Ethan Poteete pulled double-duty Tuesday night, hurling a complete game on the mound, while doing heavy damage at the dish in a 10-4 win over A-Plus Collision Center.
Poteete and the MMC staff gave up four runs in the first inning on three hits, two walks, and a crucial error before shutting down the body shop boys the rest of the night.

The Marshall County Dusters (12-2-1) advanced to the championship round of the Senior Babe Ruth State tournament on Friday night by crushing the Grassland Venom 14-0 in five innings at Joe George Field in the second round of the tourney.
Duster starting pitcher Cody Vernon mowed down Grassland's lineup with relative ease, as he tossed a one-hit shutout while racking up eight strikeouts in the contest en route to earning the victory.

On Saturday night, the Marshall County Dusters (13-2-1) captured their second straight Senior Babe Ruth State tournament title when they defeated the Hillsboro Outlaws 5-0 in the championship game at Joe George Field.
With Saturday's triumph, the Dusters recorded their eighth straight win and earned a spot in the Senior Babe Ruth Southeast Regional tournament, which will start on July 12 in Alexander City, AL.

Dallas Wright was right on target for the body shop guys, going the distance on the hill in a two-hit, no walk, two-strikeout performance.
