Tyrades! by Danny Tyree Most of you will receive this Tribune in your mailbox on the very day of the 90th birthday of my mother, Margie Adams Tyree. The approach of that milestone makes me realize that in the nearly 57 years our lives have overlapped, my mother and I have never really TALKED...

You’re probably sick of hearing me say it, but media bias isn’t so much what they tell you, it’s what they don’t. Truer words were never spoken when it comes to the Susan Rice scandal. If you’re asking, “What Susan Rice scandal?” then you’ve been tuned exclusively to CNN, ABC, or NBC...

Offered an opportunity to explain what he planned to do about a savage chemical weapons attack in Syria that indiscriminately killed 72 people, including children, President Donald Trump located the true enemy and pounced without mercy: “I think the Obama administration had a responsibility to solve the crisis a long time ago. ...

I know an 8-year-old boy who likes all sorts of reptiles. There is, however, one particular stuffed snake that collects dust in the corner of the toy room. The reason this snake is python non grata is that it is pink. I made the mistake of picking up a girl snake, to which the young man replied with all the indignation an 8-year-old can muster, “Boys do not play with pink snakes.”...

“If it saves me money and everyone has coverage, I have no problem with it.” Not a surprising response to the idea that President Trump might embrace Democrats lobbying for a “Medicare for All” universal health care plan. “I’m a contractor. I’m a Republican,” the caller offered on my radio program...

Get this: More people are fleeing big cities for rural areas and some are doing so because they fear a major financial collapse is imminent. According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, big cities are losing population at a rapid clip. Chicago’s Cook County saw 66,000 people move out in 2016...

During the campaign, Donald Trump famously conceded that he gets much of his information about world affairs from “the shows.” Incredibly, the impact made on Trump’s thinking by what he sees on television is even more profound now that he’s the leader of the free world...

My wife and I met on a blind date at a Bonanza restaurant in a nearby shopping mall nearly 32 years ago, so it was dismaying to drop in on the same mall on a recent Saturday afternoon. Store after store was unoccupied, customers were few and far between and a general “ghostly” ambience prevailed...

It’s time to stop pretending. As much as some people would like you to think there are no differences in men and women, there are. And the differences are huge. And they’re to be celebrated. Instead, we’re told that gender is simply a state of mind...

It was probably worse for the Transportation Security Administration officer than it was for me. Maybe I’d better explain. I recently had the misfortune of experiencing the TSA’s recently enhanced pat-down procedure. According to ABC News, you see, an audit by the Department of Homeland Security determined that TSA officers failed 95 percent of airport security tests in which undercover agents snuck mock explosives and banned weapons right by them...

Governments and legislative bodies often do profoundly stupid things. But lately, it seems like we’ve been living through a veritable bumper crop of dumb. There’s the multiple-car pileup that passes for our national debate on healthcare reform. Or consider the badly penned Russian family novel that is the Trump administration...

In the peak years of my scouring yard sales and junk shops for second-hand, dollar-bin vinyl record albums, I didn’t really focus on company labels. I paid more attention to genres and artists. Still, it’s only fitting that I now shine the spotlight on a single company, since I learned that Capitol Records (the first major West Coast record company) celebrates its 75th anniversary on March 27...

I feel like I’m living in some parallel universe. The news media, the Democrats, and even some Republicans continue to beat the drum of some sort of collusion between Trump and the Russians. What if I told you that neither the FBI nor any other intelligence agency had ever inspected the DNC servers that were supposedly hacked? That would be front-page news, right? It’s true. FBI Director James Comey confirmed it in testimony in January and again this week before the House Intelligence Committee...

At my age I’m pretty sure I don’t need maternity care. At her age I’m pretty sure my granddaughter doesn’t need health insurance for her end-of-life needs. But what do I know? I’m just a dumb citizen. According to the architects of Obamacare - if you can call the Democrats who designed President Obama’s signature failure “architects” - I can’t be trusted to buy my own health insurance...

It’s taken seven years, but Congressional Republicans and the Trump administration are finally having their “If you like your health care plan you can keep it” moment. Like President Barack Obama, who saw millions of Americans initially lose coverage under his signature plan, President Donald Trump, who vowed “insurance for everyone,” is finding some promises are nearly impossible to keep...

For conservatives, the election of Donald Trump, while not ideal, represents the first chance in a long time to take the country back from the infestation of liberal ideology, and especially one world government globalism. If the first two months of the Trump administration has taught us anything, it is that until liberalism is completely eradicated, it matters little who sits in the White House. ...

Trump said, “wiretap.” The national media laughed, headlines blazed, “without evidence,” and CNN flatly denied it could have happened. Then, some former intelligence agents explained to any journalist willing to listen that while “wiretap” is the wrong word, it did happen...

“It takes a special breed to be a truck drivin’ man/ And a steady hand to pull the load behind.” – Merle Haggard. In my day job as a warehouse worker, I get to chat with quite a few short-haul and long-haul truckers, so I was genuinely disturbed by the March 3 Wall Street Journal story “On The Road To Self-Driving Trucks.”...

Unless you’re the most die-hard clinger to Obama’s legacy, the consensus is Obamacare was an unqualified failure. The only question now is what to do about it. The Republicans have put forth their plan, at least the first phase of it. The awkwardly-named American Health Care Act got low scores from the Congressional Budget Office. Of course, this is the same CBO the projected Obamacare would cost less than half this year what it actually does...

One by one, Trump is working on the campaign promises that got him elected: tightening our borders, working on cutting taxes, overturning Obama’s executive orders on regulations, fixing ObamaCare, appointing one of the right-of-center judges on his list for the Supreme Court, etc. He has Washington, D.C. politicians on both sides in a tizzy. They just can’t figure this guy out; they are not used to someone who keeps his campaign promises...
