Enterprising entrepreneurs out there might wantto invest in a fleet of tractor backhoes and partial ownership of a limestone quarry, because it’s starting to look like bunker-digging time in America. The threat of nuclear war is spiking like the needle of a meat thermometer on a lava-flow... more
They won’t relent until every red-blooded American male is toting one. I speak of the fashion industry’s newest attempt to persuade men to carry pursues. In a new Chanel advertisement, a fashionable fellow named Pharrell shows, or tries to, that it’s hip for a man to carry a purse... more
Earth Day came and went and with the predictable hysteria over global warming. Like the Dakota Pipeline protestors, they left behind their mounds of trash. At the Dakota Pipeline protest, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers spent over a million dollars hauling off 835 dumpsters full of trash. Protestors set fire to their campsite burning trash, plastic, even tires, spewing black smoke into the air. Oddly enough, a dozen dogs were abandoned and had to be rescued by a local shelter... more
The airline industry is so competitive that upon learning United Airlines dragged a paying passenger off a flight so their employees could enjoy a free ride, Delta played hide-and-seek with the body of a man on the way to his own funeral. We live in an era of air travel where paying customers are regarded as some sort of annoyance worthy of abuse rather than, well, customers worthy of some minimally healthy appreciation... more
For the past two years, I’ve had the honor of driving my son to his middle school each morning. Although we’re 50 miles away from the roadways mentioned, we listen to the morning traffic report on Nashville’s WWTN and make scatological wisecracks about all the “backups,” “pileups,” “slow movements,” etc... more
Every time a picture of America’s Coolest Prez Ever gets posted on social media, the internet lights up like a Christmas tree. Of late, His Excellency, Barack Obama, was caught on camera photographing Michelle while they cruised the South Pacific on a carbon footprint-hogging 450-foot super yacht... more
We need to rethink Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. On April’s fourth Thursday for the last 25 years, parents have been taking their kids to their workplaces to help kids “envision their future and begin steps toward their end goals,” according to the executive director of the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day Foundation... more
“No one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it,” observed George Orwell in his prescient novel “1984.” However, until Donald Trump came along most U.S. presidents were at least subtle about their eagerness to retain power-especially during the first 100 days... more
Another saber rattling exhibition by North Korea happened over the weekend. Scared by Trump’s bombing of Syria and Afghanistan, evil dictator Kim Jong-un tried to fire an intercontinental ballistic missile, but it barely made it off the launching pad. He immediately executed ten military officers. He then ordered his state-employed missile scientists to examine the level of Mentos and Coca-Cola used and to adjust them for the next launch... more
Although I got vicarious pleasure from the American Dope Growers Union spoof on “Saturday Night Live” in 1977, my curiosity has never led me to sample marijuana, and I hope my preemptive talks with my 13-year-old son have persuaded him to confine HIS curiosity to more productive inquiries... more
The mainstream media don’t seem to be able to wrap their minds around strategic missile strikes. They assumed the U.S. was going to war with either Syria or Russia or both because Trump approved missile strikes in response to a chemical attack. They’re making the same mistake regarding North Korea... more
Sometime this month I hope our rabid anti-Trump media find a little time to cover a subject that has been very important to me since I was eight - child sexual abuse. Child abuse of all kinds is an epidemic here and around the world. In 2015 about 700,000 American children were victims of neglect or physical or sexual abuse. How many more cases were never reported to authorities is unknown... more
April is the most miserable month of the year — because that’s when I must make a massive “contribution” to the federal government. It consoles me, however, to learn what some of our greatest minds have to say about taxes. I found their quotations in Inc. Magazine:... more
Ultra-liberal Sweden is becoming a shell of its former self because liberalism has turned this once peaceful country into a chaotic, multicultural cesspool of violence and unrest. Swedes have always taken pride in their open-mindedness, believing their good intentions and big hearts would overcome a collision of cultures when it comes to immigration without assimilation. ... more
Elon Musk is so obsessed with self-improving artificial intelligence (A.I.) being mankind’s biggest existential threat that he now has a new company, Neuralink. Musk’s new company, according to the Wall Street Journal, will create devices known as “neural laces” that can be implanted in the human brain so people can mentally merge with software and ensure artificial intelligence programs have less of a chance of taking over the world and destroying humanity... more
“Stress Awareness Month,” sponsored every April since 1992 by the Health Resource Network, is now half over. Are you stressed out that you haven’t done more to celebrate it? I’m glad I survived the pre-1992 Bad Old Days, before we numbskulls had a special month to make us slow down and realize the health impact of stress... more
The libs may want to invest in a new narrative. The old ‘Trump is Putin’s puppet’ ain’t gettin’ it any longer. Trump’s Syria attack put an end to that. There are, however, some left-wing kooks who posit that Putin allowed Trump to bomb Syria to make Trump look good, more evidence that some of these people’s hatred for Trump knows no bounds. ... more
“Bugs? They want us to eat bugs?” “Ah, yes, you refer to an increasing number of reports and studies that are encouraging humans to consume edible insects, rather than meat.” “Consume insects? The wife goes ballistic every time she sees an ant or a spider. She’ll never put one in her mouth.”... more
The other day, I was riding on the subway when I heard a commotion behind me. People started running around in the car, and a young girl slammed into my seat as if she was fleeing some kind of murderous thug. The reason for the panic was a crack-head who had decided to beat up on a young, innocent man who happened to be riding on the same car... more
Truth can be buried in a grave but it won’t stay there. That doesn’t mean those left holding the shovel won’t temporarily profit. Judas got his 30 pieces of silver and Barack Obama got his second term, thanks to those in his administration like Susan Rice who buried truth and misled the American people... more
