A Marshall County corrections officer required treatment at the emergency room after an assault at the jail recently. According to a report by Marshall County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Sweeney, Tennessee Highway Patrolman David Hill brought Jason Tyrus Hall, 23, to the jail about 10 p.m. ... more
At least one of the Marshall County teachers who was not re-hired for the upcoming school year was "totally surprised" by the letter she got from schools director Stan Curtis saying she wasn't being re-hired. "Just let me do my job - the thing I have a passion for," exclaims Misty Reese who addressed the school board's May meeting about not being told why she was not re-hired. Tina Wesson, proprietor of Sambo's Barbecue on Horton Highway, surrendered her packaged beer sales permit to get a license to sell beer by the drink. With employees distressed over higher health care insurance costs, nine of 18 Marshall County commissioners on Thursday heard three insurance salesmen pitch health care services for county jail inmates. "We're struggling with health care insurance for employees and there are people who put themselves here and they're getting free health care," County Commissioner Seth Warf said. Water and the creek bed downstream from Vickery Spring just south of Cedar Ridge Landfill have a bluish-green color and officials said Monday that it's being investigated by the state.
