A Marshall County woman turned herself in after learning that the Grand Jury had indicted her on charges of aggravated arson and burning personal property. Waste Management Inc., the company that operates Cedar Ridge Landfill just west of Lewisburg, says its leaders believe the landfill is the source of pollution in the water and creek bed down stream from Vickrey Spring near Poteet Road. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation was asked if the pollution at Vickrey Spring, its tributary to East Fork Globe Creek and the creek would have an effect on its decision on the landfill's expansion. Lewisburg is changing its law on how donations may be accepted from motorists on the public square. Among the indictments handed down by Marshall County Grand Jury this week was one for school board member Mark Wilkerson, 43, of Chapel Hill. Wilkerson is charged with driving under the influence and violation of the implied consent law. To get quotes from more health insurance agencies, Marshall County commissioners suspended their rules on Monday so they could vote to shop for better deductibles in policies for nearly 250 employees and dependants.
