The assistant district attorney prosecuting drunken driving cases in Marshall, Bedford, Lincoln and Moore counties has accepted a job with the Hamilton County District Attorney General's office in Chattanooga. Kate Lavery said the transfer is beneficial to her because of family and friends who are closer to Chattanooga than the 17th Judicial District. Lavery began prosecuting cases here more than a year ago. Her position is paid by a state grant to assure prosecution of DUI cases... more

Marshall County High School's Homecoming last week was dedicated to a junior who perished on Thursday night as a result of injuries suffered in a one-car crash on Verona-Caney Road. Lewisburg's dogcatcher was indicted Wednesday and arrested Thursday on charges of theft and official misconduct in connection with an English bulldog he allegedly took home from the animal shelter and tried to sell. CANEY SPRINGS -- Nearly $1,400 were raised last weekend when supporters of the newly-chartered Caney Springs Volunteer Fire Department bought hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks for the cause.
