A member of the Marshall County School Board has sued the County Commission for nearly $2,340, claiming he's not been paid all he's due for mowing grass at county buildings. Without discussion on Monday night, Marshall County commissioners declined to appropriate more money to the Chamber of Commerce. The Forrest Middle School Rockets made a gigantic move up into the winners bracket of the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Chapel Hill, beginning with a first round win over Moore County, followed up by a 12-3 win over the Liberty Patriots on Thursday. Forrest catcher Austin Harber had a huge game, going 4-5 at the plate with 3 RBI's, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. A domestic altercation led to a Petersburg man's arrest on drug and weapons charges Saturday evening. Joe Thomas Williams, 63, of 3176 Hill Road, Petersburg, appeared in General Sessions Court on Tuesday. He was charged with aggravated domestic assault, possession of marijuana for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacturing marijuana, and unlawful possession of weapons. Federal economic stimulus money remains available to pay workers, a government spokeswoman said this week when another official explained one of the more notable requirements for jobs paid through September. And because of the way the jobs are being filled over time - with most starting next week, there are a total of 256 jobs to be funded, based on calculations made Tuesday.
