NASHVILLE -- The state Department of Labor & Workforce Development announced Thursday that Tennessee's unemployment rate for December was 8.7 percent, down from the November revised rate of 9.1. In Marshall County, the unemployment rate was 12.8 percent during November, down from 13.1 percent in October, according to the most recent figures from the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development. more

Giraldo Bersares Veloz, 37, and Pedro Manuel Garcia, 41, were arrested on Feb. 10 after lawmen observed them using what turned out to be fake credit cards to buy gift cards at the Lewisburg Wal-Mart.
