The LMS Tigerettes hosted the FMS Lady Rockets in an intra-county battle Monday night at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg and it was the home team that prevailed 10-5 behind some hot hitting and solid work in the circle.

LMS starting pitcher Abby Leverette picked up the win, tossing 5.2 innings and surrendering one earned run on five hits while striking out six and walking six Forrest batters.

The Tigerettes had eight hits in the game with Kinley Wiser and Brynlee Walls both going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Lindsey Lee went 2-for-3 with a base on balls and one run scored for the Lady Rockets, who hurt themselves in the field with eight errors in the contest.

Leverette, along with FMS starting pitcher Ella Chilton, were locked in a pitcher’s duel for the first three innings of a scoreless game.

FMS threated in the top of the fourth inning as they had runners on second and third with two outs before Leverette snagged an inning ending popup near the circle.

LMS opened the floodgates in the bottom of the inning as Wiser and Carlee Cole ripped back-to-back singles to lead off the frame.

Emma Ward walked to load the sacks and after a popup to second base for the first out, Walls drilled a two-run single to centerfield to open the scoring.

Forrest committed three consecutive errors to fall behind 4-0 and after a strikeout for out number two, Wiser banged her second hit of the inning, this time a two-run double to left field to make it a 6-0 contest.

Emory Hall led off the top of the fifth inning with a base hit for FMS and one out later, Lee singled to left field to put Lady Rockets on the corners with one out.

Leverette snared a lineout back to the circle before issuing a base on balls to Webb to load the bases, but she got out of the jam with a grounder back to the circle.

Walls drove in run number seven for the Tigerettes in the bottom of the inning.

Forrest came back in the top of the sixth inning that was extended by an LMS error that put FMS runners on first and third with two outs.

Three consecutive bases on balls to Lee, Megan Ashworth, and Alana Clark made it a 7-2 contest before Webb ripped a liner to right for an RBI base hit and the ball got by the outfielder and two more runs crossed the plate to make it 7-5.

Lefty Autumn Sweatt, who had come to the circle in relief of Leverette three batters earlier, induced an inning ending grounder to third.

Anna Stewart reached on an FMS error to begin the bottom of the inning and it cost the Lady Rockets as Brooklyn Nunley drilled a single before two more runs scored on a Wiser base hit to left field.

Cole followed with a fielder’s choice RBI to make it 10-5 and the Lady Rockets got one on with one out in the top of the seventh, but a game ending double play gave the victory to the Tigerettes.
