Mr. Wilburn Cecil “Pigg” Ervin, 85, husband of Betty June Mitchell Ervin, and a resident of Culleoka, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Paul Blocker and Russell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 28, 1936, in Marshall County, Pigg was the son of the late Archie Ervin and the late Florence Cozart Ervin. He married Betty June Mitchell on August 18, 1963, and together they lived in Culleoka for fifty-two years. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a welder for Heil Quaker in Lewisburg. Pigg enjoyed wood working, gardening, and cooking. He loved mowing the grass, especially on his new riding mower. He was an excellent fiddle player and loved playing with his musician friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and camping and spending time with his Crooked Creek friends. Above all, he loved his family, especially his daughter, Jenny, and granddaughter, Sully. Pigg was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wyndham; granddaughter, Sullivan Wyndham; siblings, Clyde (Cathy) Ervin of Columbia, Jackie (Sue) Ervin of Pulaski, Dot Young of Lewisburg, Lula (Jack) Crigger of Lewisburg, Eleanor Rubert of Columbia; sister and brother-in-law, James and Linda Flowers of Columbia; brothers-in-law, John Mitchell of Columbia, Jimmy Mitchell of Milan. He is also survived by bonus children, Chuck (Chris) Demastus, Pam (Rick) Howard, Susan (Hurley) McMillian, Karen Demastus, Karla (Ken) Rowe, Kevin (Carla) Demastus, Keith (Lucy) Demastus, and Michele (Paul) Blocker, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Martha Ervin, Claudie and Ruth Ervin, and sister, Betty and Chesley Cheek.

Pallbearers will be Roscoe Brannon, Bryan Rubert, Adam Demastus, Scotty Crigger, Dustin Blocker, and Daniel Blocker.

Honorary pallbearers will include his musician friends, Don and Ernie Galbreath, and Jim and Linda Flowers.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Maury Regional Medical Center ER, third, fifth, and sixth floor doctors and suite nurses and to Caris Hospice.
