Valton Martin, 88, died Monday, May 30, 2022, at Oakwood Health Care Center in Lewisburg.
Born in the Hardison Mill community on Feb. 11, 1934, he was the son of Henry M. and Laura Montgomery Martin. He served in the Tennessee National Guard and was in the construction business for many years. Valton was owner and operator of Martin Welding alongside his son, Keith. In his retirement years, his shop was the site of many happy hours of whittling around his stove with friends. He enjoyed woodworking and sharpening knives. He was a longtime member of Westvue Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry Martin, Jr., Bobby Martin, George Wendell Martin who died in infancy, Ward Martin, Marion Martin, and Jewel Wayne Martin, and great-granddaughter, Megan McNutt. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Angelyn Lovett Martin; daughters Glenda Kraft (Lee) of Nashville, Karen McNutt (Chris) and Gail Martin of Lewisburg; sons, Keith Martin (Tracy) of Belfast and Kyle Martin (Tracy) of Shelbyville; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Laura Morris (Carl) of Gallatin; sister-in-law, Joan Martin of Lewisburg.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery and will continue until the start of the service.
London Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting family with the arrangements.
