CHAPEL HILL — The Marshall County Tigerettes and Forrest Lady Rockets punched their tickets to the upcoming Class A-AA state meet after a strong showing in their respective region meets, which were both held last week at Henry Horton State Park.
The Tigerettes took second in the Region 6A-AA meet, while the Lady Rockets took fourth in Region 4A-AA.
Marshall County was the beneficiary of placing four runners in the top 20 and five in the top 21.
Guadalupe Molina and Brady Phillips finished ninth and 10th overall, crossing the finish line in 23:22 and 23:49, respectively.
Kamaria Johnson finished 15th overall and finished her race in 24:03, while freshman Karlie Lohr took 17th overall in 24:35.
Sarina Yamashita and Abbie Collins finished 21st and 23rd overall, while Kamea Johnson was the final Tigerette to cross the finish line in 26:13.
Cornersville also had a pair of runners compete in the Region 6A-AA meet.
While unable to field enough runners for the team score, Lily Ledford ran well for the Lady Bulldogs and finished her race in 26:30, while Sarah Holiman turned in a 39:41.
Alyssa Andrea of Fairview won the race in 21:27 to lead her team to the overall first-place finish.
In the Region 4A-AA race, the Lady Rockets survived an absolute gauntlet of top-end times to qualify for the state meet.
Central Magnet won the meet overall and saw Samantha Ouellette win the race in a blistering 18:38.
Central Magnet placed five runners in the top 10.
Junior Jaedyn Stalnecker was the first Lady Rocket to finish, taking eighth-place overall.
She out-kicked Central Magnet’s Ella Anderson to secure her eighth-place finish in 21:16.
Justina Mosley was just five places behind, finishing in 22:09, while Abby Davenport finished in 23rd overall.
She turned in a 22:58, while Taylor Crumley finished 28th in 23:24. Marissa Edde was the final Lady Rocket to finish the race. She crossed in 48th overall and finished her race in 25:38.
The placing was good enough for fourth-place overall and the Lady Rockets were able to secure their spot in the upcoming Class A-AA state meet.
The Class A-AA state meet will be held on Friday at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville, with the race beginning at 1:20 p.m.
