Rockets fall to Nolensville

The Forrest Rockets hosted the Nolensville Knights in Chapel Hill Tuesday night, losing 71-52.
From the get-go, the competition was a close one, both the Rockets and Knights coming out in full force, knocking down shots from inside and behind the arc, with junior Bray McCown hitting two three pointers in the first quarter and senior Davin Porter showing up with 12 points on the half.
Nolensville kept with the pace, with a trio of Knights sinking threes to keep the shootout going.
At the half, Nolensville had the lead at 32-31 thanks to a last-second foul called on Forrest, forcing the one-and-one at the foul line.
The tide started to turn after the half, the Rockets plagued with fouls and turnovers, which the Knights took advantage of, outscoring the Rockets 26-12 in the third quarter.
“We had four of our five starters in foul trouble on nit-picky little fouls,” said Forrest head coach Shane Chapman. “Our guys have to play smarter. Didn’t take care of the basketball. Didn’t do other things, put us in a bad spot. With young kids having to play, Nolensville did a good job of capitalizing on their end.”
Porter led the Rockets with 19 points.
“Davin is one of those guys that can do it all,” said Chapman. “A lot of our offense is around him. He can get it going and get the other guys involved, inside out with Bray, Ben can get to the elbow. Just didn’t shake out that way tonight.”
“We tried to take care of the basketball, tried to make the easy passes, get some good looks. I felt like we had good looks. I felt like we had opportunities to score. When you’re playing guys that are six to eight inches taller than you across the board, it’s hard to get things done inside. I thought the guys battled hard for 32 minutes,” Chapman added.
The Rockets will travel to Eagleville on Tuesday.
