LYNCHBURG — Offense was a struggle for Forrest on Tuesday night as Moore County leaned on the scoring of its heavy hitters in a 68-42 win over the Rockets.
Moore County saw eight players score on Tuesday, but four found themselves in double figures against the Rockets.
Moore County doubled up the Rockets in the opening quarter, totaling 18 points, with Preston Martin leading the charge down low.
Forrest was able to get a pair of baskets by Ben Villazon in the opening quarter, but trailed 18-9 after the opening quarter.
Moore County continued to get quality minutes, spreading another 18 points among three players, with Alex Copeland leading the way with nine points, including a 3-of-5 effort in the quarter at the line.
The Rockets rallied for 14 in the second, with Josh Rumley and Davin Porter both hitting from the arc.
The Raiders, however, hung onto a 13-point lead.
That lead continued to grow in the third with Martin playing bully ball in the paint and totaling eight of his game-high 18 points in the period.
Forrest closed the game with just seven points in the final quarter.
Bray McCown and Porter each scored eight points to lead the Rockets, while Villazon chipped in six.
Martin’s 18 led four in double figures, with Dawson White adding 15.
Will Baker scored 12 and Copeland added 11.
Forrest is back on its home court on Friday night, hosting backyard rival Eagleville at 7:30 p.m.
