Rev. Jones Davis departed peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, after 103 years of a very blessed life. He was born in Maury County on July 25, 1918, to the late Annie Jones Davis and George Arthur Davis.
He was an associate minister at Greater First Baptist Church. Rev. Davis pastored Fountain Creek M.B. Church in Culleoka, TN for over 30 years and retired from pastoring at age 78.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by twelve siblings.
Rev. Davis enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII, Dec. 23, 1943. Active duty began on Jan. 13, 1944, as a PFC. His military occupation was a truck driver and he was stationed in Central Burma. He received several military awards, including a Bronze star. He was employed at the former First Nation Bank for 31 years. He was honored as the oldest living World War II veteran in Marshall County.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ida Mae Primm Davis; seven adult children, Peggie J. Davis, Jerry Jones (Patricia) Davis, Stephanie A. Davis, Beverly D. (Michael) Pigg, Benjamin D. Davis, Keith M. Davis and Kevin L. Davis; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Willie Mae (Jeff) Norwood, of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 at noon at Greater First Baptist Church in Lewisburg. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Committal and interment will be held in Hopewell Cemetery.
