Norman Thomas Evanko, 80, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at his home. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, and was the son of the late Joe and Dorris Evanko, and birth father Norman Thomas Sturk.
Norman served his country as a Paratrooper in the Army Special Services in Vietnam from 1959 to 1965. He was honorably discharged for the Army in 1968. Along with his sister, Josie, and brother-in-law, Tom Harding, Norman developed a resort in the jungle of Belize called Chan Cheech from 1989 to 2002. The three-some and his wife, Pam, continued to develop properties on Ambergris Key, San Pedro, and Belize for several years after that. Norman moved to Lewisburg permanently in 2010 with his wife, Pam Smith Evanko.
In addition to his wife, Pam, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Missie Warner (Jeff) Haislip and stepson, Dr. Howard (Alisa) S. Warner III; one sister Josie (Tom) Harding of Arizona; four bonus grandchildren, Mallory (Bradley) Maddox, Kathryn (Jake) Lintz, Trey Warner all of Lewisburg, and Stuart Warner of Auburn, Alabama; three bonus great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Slayton Maddox, and Camden Lintz all of Lewisburg; two nephews, Jason and Corey Harding of Texas; a great niece and nephew, Morgan and Cayden Harding.
Norman’s wishes were to be cremated and later buried with his wife. The family will have a private celebration of life; there will not be a public funeral or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the Veterans Outreach of Lewisburg and/or to the Wounded Warrior Project in his memory.
London Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
