Monday night’s second game of the Babe Ruth League twin bill featured Marshall Medical Center (MMC) and Game Time, the second Maury County squad in the league this season.

Game Time starting pitcher Cole Taylor struck out the side in order in the top of the first inning and MMC starter Ashton Grubbs did not allow any runs in the bottom of the frame.

Taylor whiffed the first two hitters he faced in the top of the second inning and was taken out of the game on a pitch count.

Michael Lester came to the hill and Beau Shillig greeted him with a base hit to right field.

Lester came back to strike out the next MMC batter and Grubbs tossed a scoreless half inning as well.

Lester struck out the first two MMC batters in the top of the third inning before walking Cole Davis.

Davis stole second base and Riley Durbin followed with a single to center field to put runners on the corners for Cova Rowland, who hit a ball in the hole at short to score Davis from third base.

Lester got the third out on a strikeout and Austin Kelly came to the hill for MMC in the bottom of the third inning.

Kelly whiffed the first Game Time batter before walking the next three batters in a row to load the bases.

An error tied the game at 1-1 and Caleb Kincaid followed with an RBI single to make it 2-1.

Another MMC error made it 3-1 and Brandon Crabtree lashed an RBI single to left for a 4-1 lead.

A 5-3 fielder’s choice RBI by Keaton Umstead gave Game Time a four run lead and Gauge Bolton-Gilbert made it a 7-1 contest with a two-run single to left field.

The big inning ended with a strikeout and Cade Mills drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth, but Lester struck out the next three MMC batters in a row to end the inning.

Things went south in the bottom of the fourth as MMC committed five errors in a row to give Game Time an 11-1 lead and the run-rule win.
