On Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, Leonard Farrar entered into eternity to meet our creator at age 85. He joins those preceded in death, his mother and father; sister, Annie Ruth Blackburn; brother, Howard Farrar; grandson, Robby Dunnavant; and grandson by marriage, Marquis Martin.

Leonard was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Giles County, TN to John C. and Beulah Mae Hall Farrar. He attended Jones High School where he was a standout football player having been chosen for the “All Duck River Valley Conference Team” his sophomore year. He left high school early to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy for six years. He was stationed in San Diego, CA and Japan. During this time, he met and married his steel magnolia, Juanita Doggett. They had four daughters. Upon leaving the service, Leonard worked as a tool and dye machinist in Lewisburg, TN. He and his family then moved to Pulaski to farm and continue his work at Wright Industries in Nashville TN, subsequently retiring after many years there. Leonard was a member of the Diana Church of Christ and an avid supporter of the Worldwide Church of God. He loved and appreciated history, animals, all things nature, but most of all he was devoted to God, country, and his family.

Although Leonard labored most of his life as a machinist and farmer, he never limited himself to these endeavors, After retiring, he went back to school to obtain his GED and FAA Certifications in Aviation Mechanics and Aviation Powerplant all the while pursuing his dream of flying. He earned his pilots license in 2006 and enjoyed flying and meeting the many friends he met along the way. Leonard continued to farm and fly with the support of his beloved wife, Juanita.

Leonard is survived by what he affectionately called “his tribe” which includes his devoted wife of 65 years, Juanita Doggett Farrar; four daughters, Cheryl (Payton) Hewitt, Jacqueline (Brad) Clark, Beverly (Bob) Dunnavant, Anita (Bill) Stephens; ten much loved grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at 3 p.m. at the Cornersville Funeral Home Chapel, 310 North Main St. Cornersville, TN 37047 with interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled to begin prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odd Fellow’s Hall Church of Christ Scholarship Fund.

Cornersville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
