John Darren Phipps, 59, of Lewisburg, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 9, 2021.
He was born Feb. 17, 1962, in Huntington, WV to Samuel and Joyce Phipps. He was proceeded in death by his father, Samuel Phipps.
He was a 1980 graduate from MCHS and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University. He was a member Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene and an ordained Deacon in the Nazarene Church. He loved the Lord and enjoyed teaching his adult Sunday School class and studying the Bible. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed golf. He was a devoted son, husband, and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra; his daughter, Deanna (Brad) Smith of Summertown; his son, Scott Phipps of Lewisburg; his mother, Joyce Phipps of Lewisburg; his sister, Gina (Bob) Johnson of Cornersville; his granddaughter, Ada Clara Smith and several nieces and nephews.
The family held a private burial at Sunset Park, Lewisburg, TN, with Rev. Ron DeWitt officiating. There was no visitation.
A Celebration of Life was held at First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville, TN on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Least of These Fund, c/o First Church of the Nazarene, 834 Union Street, Shelbyville, TN 37160.
Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
