Mr. Jimmy Wortham, age 96, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Friday, May 21, 2021 in Columbia, Tennessee. Mr. Wortham was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Ivan Clinton and Mary Ruth Marshall Wortham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vesta Wheeler Wortham, who died in 2007, sisters, Virginia Lamb, Marie Trout, and a brother, Paul Wortham.
Mr. Wortham was a graduate of Forrest High School, Class of 1943, and was a life long farmer. He was also retired from the State of Tennessee where he worked in the maintenance department at Henry Horton State Park in Chapel Hill. He was a life long member of Rays Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wortham is survived by several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and cousins.
Family members received friends on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from noon until 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial followed in Wheeler Cemetery, located on the home place of Mr. Wortham.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
