Jerry Smith Hickman

Mr. Jerry Smith Hickman, 76, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at 2 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 12 PM until the 2 PM service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on December 8, 1944, in Marshall County, Jerry was the son of the late Ollie Smith Hickman and the late Ethel Seagroves Hickman. He worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for eighteen years and was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed fishing, training and showing horses. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his great grandson, Hunter.

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Anita (Dwight) Brown of Loretto and Jennifer (Cheyenne) McNeese of Columbia; sisters, Betty Barron, Marie Puryear, Edna (James) Inabnitt, Kathy (Tony) Skinner, and Connie Carter, all of Lewisburg; brothers, Larry Hickman of Lewisburg, Eddie Hickman of Cornersville, Robert Hickman (Margaret Benson) of Columbia, and Wayne Hickman of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Hickman, Jr.; stepson, Terry Cook; sister, Kay Goats; brother, Dennis Hickman; and the love of his life, Georgia Cook.

Pallbearers will be Phil Sharp, Cheyenne McNeese, Brennan McNeese, Robbie Burdick, Dwight Brown, Gregg Gibbs, Wayne Hickman, and Jimmy Inabnitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Maury Rural Fire Department.
