The FMS Lady Rockets travelled to Eagleville Monday night for a Duck River Valley Conference matchup with the Eagleville Lady Eagles and they took control from the beginning, never letting up in a 42-13 win.
Forrest’s Sadie Smith led all scorers in the contest with 11 points, including one 3-pointer and a stellar 4-for-5 effort from the free throw line.
Kaylin Pope added seven points and made 3-of-4 from the charity stripe and Maddie Ille nailed one 3-pointer for the Lady Rockets.
Camreigh Warner, Josie Brown, and Adisyn Howes all had two points and Cloie Smith made one free throw.
Both squads got off to a slow start in a 4-1 first quarter in favor of FMS as Warner and Brown both netted their lone field goals of the game in the stanza.
The Lady Rockets (2-2, 2-0) turned in a near perfect second quarter as they shutout the Lady Eagles on defense and scored 11 points on the offensive end with Sadie Smith and Ille both draining a three-bomb to go along with five made free throws to lead 15-1 at halftime.
Howes scored for FMS to kick off the second half before the Lady Eagles got back in the scoring column on an Ashtyn Walker basket, but a Pope bucket followed by a steal and score by Sadie Smith made it a 21-3 contest.
Eagleville managed to outscore FMS 4-1 for the remainder of the third quarter and the Lady Rockets took a 22-7 lead to the fourth quarter.
Back-to-back baskets by Sadie Smith and Pope increased Forrest’s lead to 26-7 before Eagleville scored seven points, capped off by an AJ Jackson 3-pointer to make it 26-13.
Two free throws by Sadie Smith finished off the scoring in the game as the Lady Rockets grabbed the 15-point win.
The Lady Rockets take on Liberty in a DRVC matchup Monday night at Chapel Hill with tip-off set for 6 p.m.
