Dawson Bailey Smith, Sr., 87, of Lewisburg, TN, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at Marshall Medical Center.

He was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late Joe Smith and Elsie Key Smith. He was a Central Office Manager for Bellsouth before his retirement. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for 12 years and was a member of the Jaycees of Fayetteville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Amanda Looney and five brothers-in-law, David Welch, Steve Reavis, Lewis Simmons, Bill Thomas, and Bennie Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Ledford Smith; daughters, Tammy (Kenny) Caneer of Cornersville and Kristy (John) Looney of Cornersville; one son, Lee (Vikki) Smith of Lewisburg; sisters, Barbara Simmons of Lewisburg, Helen Smith, Linda Thomas, both of Huntsville, Gail Welch, Brenda Reavis, both of Petersburg; sister-in-law, Rachel Bush of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN 37047, with burial to follow in Short Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will begin on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, starting at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
