A graveside service for Nora Kay Riner, 64, of Petersburg, was held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at Richmond Cemetery with Bill Cantrell officiating. Mrs. Riner passed from this life on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.

Born Jan. 24, 1957, in Mansfield, OH, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Becker Mitchell. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ron Mitchell and Robert Patterson; sister, Ruthann Browning.

Nora was a fabulous cook, not only for her family but for the public as well. She was owner and operator of Riner’s Diner for eight years along with being a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Liberty Valley Church of Christ. She loved her family and had a soft spot for Yorkie pups.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William “Bill” Riner of Petersburg; daughters, Sandy (Michael) Allen, Christy (Mike) Swafford and son, William J. (Stacey) Riner all of Petersburg; sisters, George-Ann Dotterer of Petersburg, Betty Joe Thompson of OH, and Lottie Jean Click of OH; grandchildren, Madison (Cody) Smith, Keith (Jessica) Cook, Chelsea Kimbrell, Brigette Swafford, Trevor Glenn, and Jackson Allen; great grandson, Walker Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
