Lady Rocket senior first baseman Katelyn Helmick epitomizes the resiliency and the never give up and never give in mantra of Forrest softball as she has had to sit on the sidelines for much of her high school career due to injuries. That attitude of determination and what she has shown on the field was enough for Motlow State Community College, who recently signed Helmick to a Letter of Intent to play softball next season for the Lady Bucks. “I’m really excited,” Helmick said. “I’m just hoping all my hard work in rehabbing will pay off in a great way.” more
The Region 3A/AA Wrestling Tournament at Eagleville has a new format this season as full brackets will be completed all the way through the championship matches and will be split into two days, beginning on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Friday’s session begins with the 126-pound weight class flowed by 132, 138, 152, 160, 195, and 285. The first local wrestler to take the mat will be Forrest junior Asa Nance (6-4), who will wrestle Moore County senior Dustin Thomas (5-2) in the 126-pound weight class. more

The Forrest Lady Rockets won their third close game in a row, coming away with a tough 41-37 win at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg Friday night to keep a stranglehold on second place in the district standings and complete the regular season sweep over the Tigerettes... more
The Marshall County Tigers completed the regular season sweep over intra-county rival Forrest with a 58-48 win in Friday night’s nightcap at Lewisburg. The Tigers remained in first place in the District 12-AA standings by one game over Community with the win, but things tightened up as Vikings came up with a huge 61-57 overtime win over Nolensville at Unionville on Friday. Marshall County travelled to Murfreesboro Central Magnet School (MCM) on Tuesday and hosts Nolensville in the regular season finale on Friday. more

The Forrest Rockets just could not muster up enough offense in Tuesday night’s District 12-AA contest at Unionville and it cost them as the Vikings won easily 58-39, handing Chapel Hill its 14th loss in a row. “We had our chances and displayed some good offense spurts throughout the game, but when going against Community you can't have too many offensive lapses with their speed and height,” Forrest coach Corey Bishop said. more
